Weekend getaway

This past weekend we were able to get away for 4 days and head down to Seaside, OR. Ryan had some continuing education on Saturday and Sunday so we decided to tag along. We were able to stay in this very nice resort and just relax and enjoy the crazy weather. Friday evening was clear, but cold, Saturday was cloudy and cold, Sunday was very windy and rainy and Monday was drizzly.

Friday, the girls really wanted to go swimming, OUTSIDE, so dad and grandpa braved the cold to take them. The pool was heated, but even so, they spent most of their time in the hot tub. It was so cold that the water on the ground around the pool was turning to ice! Cody did a little swimming of his own in the large bathtub. We also went to the beach, but even in my winter coat, ear muffs and gloves it was still too cold.

Saturday, I was able to meet up with a friend and her family that I had not seen in over 10 years. Thanks Kristen and Scott for coming over! We went to a tiny little aquarium that was NOT inside and NOT warm. We hit up some candy shops and then found a little indoor mall with the great toy store that the kids were able to play in and stay warm. Unfortunately, for most of the time my friends were there, I did not have a hotel room because I had to switch rooms that day, so we had nowhere to go. I think almost everything in Seaside is outside.

Sunday I was on my own again, so the kids and I found a sacrament meeting to go to and then just tried to fill our day. Like I said, it was very windy and rainy so we went on walks around the hotel hallways and went on a lot of elevator rides. We also had a little Wii and movie time and were really excited when Ryan got home.

Monday we only had a couple of hours before check out, so while Cody and I packed and loaded stuff, Ryan took the girls swimming again. I think Cody's favorite part of the whole trip was riding on the luggage cart to and from the room and parking garage.

All in all it was a nice getaway and the girls were happy to miss a day and a half of school.
