Cape Dissapointment

Our first camping trip this month was to Cape Dissapointment. It is down by Long Beach, Washington (almost to Oregon). We camp at a State Park there right on the beach. We left on Wednesday and returned on Saturday.

On the way there we stop in Astoria, Oregon and climb the column and eat lunch. Here we are at the top of the column. I will just say that it is way up there. You can see the Columbia River and the ocean from up there. It was a great view.
After the column we finished our drive. I guess all the kids were sleepy. We thought this was so funny. We couldn't get Paige to keep her head up. Our van was a little packed. We had Ryan, me and the girls, plus my sister, Ryan's sister, her husband and their son (he's sleeping next to Brynn).

On Thursday we hiked up to the lighthouse and ate lunch up there. It would have been nice, but it was cold, windy and misting. Not much fun for me.

On Friday we went into Long Beach. We do this every year so it is kind of a tradition. We rode the go karts. This was Paige's first year. She seemed to like it. We adults rode also after the kids were done. That might have been my favorite part of the trip. I really like to go fast!

After town we went and hung out at the beach because the sun was actually out. Here is Ryan on the skim board. That is about all we do in the water because the rip tide is really bad there. In fact two people died around the time that we were there. Scary!

The guys and kids had this plan to build a piece of "land' and try to protect it from the waves. It was fun to watch them build walls and motes and scramble when a big wave came. As the tide went out, they had to start over and try to protect another piece of "land". At least they were entertained.

All in all it was a great camping trip.

K, so it looks like your place would be a great place to vacation! Maybe we will have to come visit and go camping. It looks like you guys had a blast. Tell Ryan that Jon says HI.
