Where did the summer go?

I realize that I haven't posted since July. That's probably because I have been so busy!!! Paige starts 1st grade tomorrow so today is our last day of "summer". We celebrated by taking Paige to her last dentist appointment to get cavities 7 and 8 filled. Here is how we spent August:

Four days camping at Cape Disappointment on the Washington coast. As always it was a little cold, but that doesn't stop the kids from playing on the beach and going in the water.

Four days camping on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. It was cooler here also and we got a little rain. That just makes camping more interesting. We spent a lot of time hiking and fishing. The girls really got into the fishing and by the end, could cast and catch their own fish. They wanted to keep one to eat, so they made a "fish carrier" out of a stick that they had and they carried it all the way back to camp. It was too funny.

Brynn turned four while we were at Orcas. We brought some cookies for her birthday celebration that night and then she asked for cupcakes for her family party. This girl is so easy to please.
I was home from Orcas for five days (long enough to un-pack, do laundry, then re-pack) and then the kids and I headed four hours away to Oregon to visit my Dad and Rebecca for six days. We pretty much just hung out and visited most of the time. On our last night, we went to Silver Falls State Park and "camped" in a cabin. Honestly, I prefer the tent over the cabin. Sure, it was nice and dry and warm, but there were too many places that spiders could be lurking. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much that night. I just couldn't relax. We did a little hiking to some waterfalls. I fell and dropped my camera while it was open. Not too much harm done to me or the camera thankfully. We also had a little play time in the creek. It wasn't very warm here either. Next year I need to put in a vote for a camping trip somewhere warm.

Other highlights:
Cody can finally WALK!!!
Brynn is going to start back up with speech therapy.
Paige and Brynn will be starting dance classes this month.
Ryan is almost done with golf league for the year, so I will have him home on Monday nights.
I am going to "try" and learn how to play the organ.
