From soy to rice

We put Cody on soy milk 10 days ago. He seemed to do well on it for the first couple days. The runny nose that he has had his whole life went away in one day. He also hasn't thrown up the entire 10 days which has NEVER happened. After a day or two though, his stool started to be runny (sorry, tmi). It got worse and worse every day and yesterday he had 9 poopy diapers, all very runny and foul smelling. His little bum was so red and hurt so bad I wanted to cry for him. I'm not sure if it is the soy or something else, but the timeline fits and he was showing no other signs of illness. Today we put him on rice milk and he has been happy and only had two poopy diapers (so far) and they are almost "normal". The bad thing is that he is so dependent on bottles, but the rice milk has like nothing to it. It looks like milky water. He definetly will have to start eating more, which has also been a problem with him. He likes to gag and throw up. I am going to see how the next week goes and if everything clears up I guess we stick with rice milk.

Anyone else had to deal with this? What was the outcome?

Jessica,
Anna drinks rice milk. You can try adding calories to it, like a some olive oil/canola oil. Or strawberry nestle quick etc. He could be gagging because of an allergy that is causing reflex, maybe if you get rid of the food causing the allergy it'll get better) One can only hope! Good luck! I know it can be very challenging.

My sister in-law, Tana Grames, has all her boys on rice milk. Aiden for a few years and her twin 18 month olds for six months. You can call her, she actually is really knowledgeable and has done lots of research. Her phone # is in the stake directory. Emma loves seeing Paige at recess! Love, Catherine
